PYATT, AR — The Town of Pyatt celebrated a new chapter of community development with its revitalized downtown park; now proudly known as “Pirate Park”. Though modest in size, the park has long held untapped potential. When Mayor Cynthia St. Clair took office in 2023, she brought with her a clear vision for strengthening Pyatt’s sense of community and enhancing its public spaces. Recognizing the importance of partnerships in achieving that vision, Mayor St. Clair reached out to the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District (NWAEDD) for assistance in identifying resources to support local development.
Through the guidance and support of the NWAEDD Community Development team, the Town successfully applied for and secured a $100,000 FUN Park Grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage & Tourism – Office of Outdoor Recreation in 2024.
This critical funding made it possible for Pyatt to bring long-awaited improvements to life that were completed in the summer of 2025, including:
A new playground and swing set
Shaded picnic seating for families and visitors
Enhanced parking and sidewalk accessibility
Upgrades to the basketball court and surrounding fencing
These enhancements have completely reimagined the space, creating a vibrant and welcoming environment for residents of all ages. The revitalized park not only strengthens community development but also provides amenities that will serve Pyatt families for years to come. “This project is a testament to our commitment to moving Pyatt forward, said Mayor St. Clair.”
The Town of Pyatt will be submitting an application for the Great Strides Grant Program through the same funding agency in hopes of restoring the trail at the larger park and continuing to invest in spaces that bring the community together.
