NWAEDD Helps Eight Northwest Arkansas Communities Receive Grant Funding

Harrison, AR (Sept. 10, 2024) – In August, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Division of Rural Services awarded $344,728.69 in Rural Community Grants to 33 cities and counties. Through a partnership with the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District (NWAEDD), eight of those grants, totaling $75,993.44, were awarded to communities in Northwest Arkansas.
Highfill: $14,915.92 – Cascade System for Fire Station
Huntsville: $6,562.50 – LED Lighting for Fire Station
Lakeview: $1,946.78 – Security Cameras for City Park
Leslie: $13,724.85 – Turnout Gear
Lurton: $9,750 – 250 Gallon Skid Unit
Norfork: $14,406.04 – Turnout Gear
Sulphur Springs: $8,588.60 – Remodel Restrooms at City Park
Yellville: $6,098.75 – Installation of Elecrical Outlet at City Park for Food Truck use
The Rural Community Grant is one of the Division of Rural Services’ programs, which is used to fund projects such as fire trucks, fire protection equipment, community centers, storm sirens, community parks, walking trails, and baseball fields. Applicants from incorporated towns of less than 3,000 in population and unincorporated rural areas are eligible for up to $15,000 in matching funds under the program.
