Fire Station Expansion Strengthens Emergency Services and Marks First Phase of Long-Term Growth

Marshall, AR — The Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District (NWAEDD) joins the City of Marshall in celebrating the successful expansion of the Marshall Fire Station, a project designed to support the department’s growing emergency response needs and enhance public safety for residents of Marshall.

Thanks to an $87,989 grant secured in 2025 from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, Division of Rural Services, along with a 10% local match and in‑kind contributions from the City of Marshall, the department has constructed a new three‑bay, freestanding structure. The new building, located on Airport Road, will house additional ambulances and fire apparatus—providing the space and accessibility necessary for faster, more efficient emergency response.

The original fire station, built in 2015, had become insufficient as service demands continued to grow. Marshall’s increased call volume and changing emergency response requirements made additional space a critical need. This expansion ensures that the department can continue delivering high‑quality protection and life‑saving services for years to come.

This expansion represents the first phase of a larger plan to strengthen the community’s emergency response infrastructure. As part of this progression, the fire station will soon house two ambulances previously stationed at a separate location and support flight ambulance operations. The expanded building will also include living quarters to support twenty-four-hour first responder availability, ensuring crews can respond quickly and effectively. This enhancement further positions Marshall as a community that prioritizes readiness, safety, and rapid emergency response.

“Investments like this reinforce the importance of public safety,” said Jeremy Ragland, NWAEDD Deputy Director. “We are proud to support the City of Marshall as they work proactively to meet the needs of their community.”

Community members, city officials, funding partners, and NWAEDD representatives gathered on March 2, 2026, to celebrate the project’s completion with a ribbon‑cutting ceremony, recognizing both the dedication of the Marshall Fire Department and the collaboration that made the expansion possible. The new facility marks a significant step forward in strengthening emergency services in Searcy County.
