The Planning and Research Division of the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District provides short and long-range planning services to the nine counties and all of the cities, towns and communities of this region.  These services include a wide range of activities, requiring a diversity of skills and broad expertise.

Typical Planning and Research Projects include

• Infrastructure and Public Facility Planning, including such projects as water and wastewater treatment facilities, park and playground development, parking and traffic studies, and more.

• Transportation Planning

• Public Emergency and Mitigation Planning,

• Dissemination of Census and Economic Data in conjunction with the U.S. Census Bureau and UALR

• Tourism Enhancement

• Public Hearings and Participation

• Funding Applications and Coordination

The normal procedure for initiating a Planning and Research Project is for an authorized representative of a member government to contact J. Michael Norton, executive Director of the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District, Inc., to discuss the community's planning needs or to discuss a special Planning or Research project.  Likewise, the District's Planning and Research Division undertakes special planning projects as the need for such projects is recognized, or in support of ongoing community and economic development efforts.
