Grants Administration

The Grants Administration Division is responsible for a wide range of activities related to the administration of funds to benefit the citizens of Northwest Arkansas, and to enhance the development of the Region's counties and communities.  Typical activities of the Grants Administration Division include helping communities and counties establish development priorities through public hearings and other types of public participation processes; helping establish the eligibility of projects for funding under the guidelines of various appropriate funding programs; investigating, applying for, and leveraging funds among various funding sources to achieve the optimum benefits for our member communities; and administering funds for projects in a beneficial and timely fashion to assure compliance under the regulations of the various funding programs.

Typical projects administered by the Grants Administration Division include

  • Infrastructure improvements such as water and wastewater treatment facilities

  • Public facilities such as senior centers, daycare centers, parks, and walking/hiking/bicycle trails, county health units, community buildings, and fire stations.

  • Economic development projects which center around the creation of jobs, typically infrastructure improvements.  The District also participates in securing and administering funds for projects such as building and equipment purchases, facility expansions, and other activities for local and regional industries and businesses, which helps to create new employment opportunities in Northwest Arkansas.

In some cases, funds are secured and administered for the construction of totally new facilities, but often funding is sought and administered for the improvement or expansion of existing facilities.  In all cases, the personnel of the Grants Administration Division work hard to assure full participation of the public in the project discussion, evaluation and development processes.

Typical funding sources include grant and loan funding from a variety of sources, including
